The
addiction to the fishing habit was well developed by the age of 10.
Mashpaug Pond in Providence, RI was just down the street, and it was
FULL of carp, ranging from two to twenty lbs.
A big strong Carp, falling for a wad of Wonder Bread on a hook,
tied to a 6lb test spinning outfit, purchased with S&H Greenstamps,
collected from Mom & Dad's grocery shopping at Almacs in Garden City
Cranston... was still, to this day, some of the purest, most exciting
fishing I've ever done.
As
fishing within bicycle range, increased to fishing within automobile
range, so intensified the fishing addiction.
I still, to this day, own the surf casting rod that was custom
made for me at age fourteen and paid for with "Paper Route"
income.
Soon
came the first boat, then the second, then the third and actual first
"real" boat, a 21' Grady White... then the fourth, and
then the present 31' Bertram... a true "Blue Water"
fishing machine, and time and time again, proven fish raiser.
At
some point, I became a "Mate on call" to work with many of the
seasoned captains in the Galilee Fleet. To all of
them, I offer my sincerest gratitude, as I learned quite a bit in the
cockpits of these experienced professionals. One of them told me
once, "It's ok to be a copy cat, providing you know which cats to
copy". Fishing, like any other craft, is a perpetual
learning experience. I have learned from the best.
I moved up to my 31 Bertram, and ventured into my own charter
boat business upon my retirement from the Providence Police
Department.
Over
the last eleven years, I have enjoyed taking fisherman and families out
to experience what the Rhode Island shoreline and Block Island Sound
have to offer. I see many of the same people return to my boat,
year after year, to take a chance at a trophy Bass, a door mat Fluke,
a big stubborn Shark, or a high speed hard tail.
I thank you all for allowing me to be your Captain, and look
forward to taking you fishing again. Now for the rest of
you that haven't fished with me yet...
WELCOME
ABOARD... LET'S GO FISHING ! !
